THOMAS K. JACOB April 22, 20-- Mr. Craig D. Sutton Dear Craig, I'm writing to remind you that I am still in the job market. I'm seeking a job that involves modifying technical products and equipment in the field to meet customer specifications. This job could be called something like: -- Field Engineer The chemical, industrial controls and instrumentation, water treatment, hazardous waste, machinery and manufacturing, sales/marketing, construction and materials handling industries would appeal to me. I have created a non-oilfield
resume that focuses on sales and marketing. Please Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Your friend, Tom Jacob TKJ/bl |
| Author's Note: It's good to let your friends know you're in the
job market. But after a month, they forget you. If they haven't heard from
you, they assume you've found something. If you haven't, remind them.
The best reminder letter I ever saw was in the form of a newsletter. The job candidate, a CPA, sent a monthly humor- and anecdote-filled newsletter to all his friends and supporters. It was well written and great fun. There was only one problem. He was employed after only two months, so the newsletter ended. |
