Here's how it works. You enter the software and select your areas of expertise, say finance, treasury, and audit. Then you select the industries that interest you, say media and telecommunications. (HINT: to select more than one item, hold down the "Control" key on your keyboard.) The software will give you a total of the exact number of recruiters in your categories. You may edit your choices to increase or decrease the number. You'll be asked to modify a brief cover letter to go with the resume. We suggest you delete that letterit is far too basicand type or paste in your own letter, one like the ones in our cover letter collection. This letter is an especially good example. You'll be asked to select "Contingency" or "Retainer" recruiters. You could select both, but a better choice might be to choose "Contingency" if your salary target is below $60,000, and "Retainer" if your salary target is above $60,000. You'll be guided to attach your current resume to the file. We have found that saving your letter and resume in Rich Text Format (*.rtf) rather than as a simple Microsoft Word document (*.doc) preserves the original formatting better. You enter your credit card information on a VeriSign secure site to complete the transaction. Then you get a written confirmation of your purchase and a complete list of the recruiters you contacted. You can expect to receive confirming e-mails from several recruiters, although most will not contact you unless they have a specific position that matches your background.
